Nusa Lembongan is a small, yet beautiful island located southeast of Bali. It is only a 30 minute boat ride away which makes it a popular tourist destination to visit while in Bali. Although Nusa Lembongan is getting more and more touristy, it is still nothing compared to Bali, especially when it comes to traffic and crowds. On Nusa Lembongan, you still get the real island life feeling. You can find empty beaches, crystal clear water, white sand, and amazing waves to surf. It is the perfect island getaway to relax and enjoy nature's beauty. Below I will provide you with my top tips for making the most of your trip to Nusa Lembongan. I will include where to eat, sleep, and fun things to see and do while on the island. GETTING TO NUSA LEMBONGAN FROM BALIThere are several boat companies that leave about three or four times a day from Bali (Sanur and Benoa Harbor) to Nusa Lembongan and it will only take you 30 minutes with the speed boat. I suggest going with MARLIN Lembongan Cruiser because they are very reliable and even offer a pick-up service in Bali. If you stay around Kuta Beach area the pick-up is included (for 2 or more people) otherwise it is an extra 200,000 IDR. Price: 550,000 IDR for a return ticket including drop-off to your hotel on Nusa Lembongan. Times: Sanur to Nusa Lembongan - 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Nusa Lembongan to Sanur - 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 3:00 p.m. ACCOMMODATION IN NUSA LEMBONGANNusa Lembongan hotels are not always cheap, especially in the high season (June-September). However, with so many options available, finding somewhere awesome at a low price is certainly possible (you just need to know where to look..) Because I was meeting up with friends, who had already booked their accommodations before I decided to join, I didn't have the opportunity to see what else was available. I wouldn't exactly recommend staying here considering it isn't really close to anything in particular - not to mention the A/C barely worked, the showers didn't have hot water, and I'm pretty sure the blankets were never thoroughly washed. TAMAN HOMESTAY Location: Banjar Kaja, Desa Lembongan, 80771 Lembongan, Indonesia Cost: 1 bedroom villa - $54.00 per night (booking.com) Hours: check in starts at 2:00 p.m. Website: http://taman-homestay-nusa-lembongan.bali TOP PLACES TO EAT ON NUSA LEMBONGANWhether you want to try cute local cuisine, healthy or even fancy restaurants on Nusa Lembongan, you have many options to choose from. Most of the restaurants offer a free pick-up and drop-off service after 5:00 p.m., so definitely take advantage of that service, otherwise the 'taxi's' will cost you about 100,000 IDR per ride. If you only get a chance to visit one of these places then I would hands down suggest The Deck. This quickly become one of my favorite spots, not only for breakfast, but for just hanging out. The views alone will keep you there TOP THINGS TO DO & SEE ON NUSA LEMBONGANFor being a relatively small island, Nusa Lembongan has a lot going on. Of course you will want to visit all of the beautiful beaches and take a dip in the ocean. My recommendation is to see as many sunrises and sunsets as possible, motorbike throughout the town, grab a beer at one of the local hot spots, and perhaps even go on a half day snorkeling trip to see the famous Manta Rays. You won't be disappointing.
