amsterdamWhere do I even start? My love for Amsterdam happened almost instantaneously, the moment I step foot off of the train. Some might call it love at first sight. The train departed from Hauptbahnbof station around 8:30 a.m. in Berlin. The ride itself took about 7 hours which I spent the majority of the time sleeping. Wasn't the worst train ride in the world... Once the train pulled into the final station in Amsterdam, I couldn't even contain my excitement! Not only was this the first time I was traveling completely solo, but I was also in freaking Europe!!! I mean...cmon!!! Amsterdam is absolutely beautiful! With a rich and interesting culture, and super helpful and kind Dutch people. The views are just so breathtaking, with the canals weaving and winding throughout the city, and boats floating underneath the bridges. Every street you walk down is filled with bicycles, which happen to outnumber both cars and people by a long shot. I spent 3 wonderful days in Amsterdam! The culture within the city was one that was very modern and it always had a very upbeat feel to it. The only downfall was the weather. I'm not a fan of the cold and there was definitely a considerable amount of rain, along with chilly weather and cloudy skies during my time here. The food was delicious and the nightlife was poppin! The prices were okay considering the area. I would have gladly spent more time in this city if time would have permitted. But alas, it was time to keep moving forward.... Below I will provide a brief outline on the highlights of Amsterdam that I experienced. I will also include the costs, location, and hours of each place visited.
