Granada is a beautiful, quaint little city in the South of Spain. Located at the foot of the snowy Sierra Madre mountains, the city of Granada is full of history and character. Because it was once a Muslim kingdom, much of the city is built with Islamic architecture and influence that remains today. Boasting a vibrant population of university students, free appetizers with every glass of wine, skiing in the mountains, and Mediterranean beaches only an hour away, it’s the perfect town to visit for a weekend while traveling through Spain. Below I will provide a brief outline on the highlights of Granada that I experienced including accommodations places to eat, and places to visit. Every turn is a picture-perfect photo opportunity. Find the Mirador de San Nicolas, one of the most famous view points over the Alhambra. This is where everyone gathers to take in the stunning building from afar. Tip: The Mirador can get very crowded, there’s a little bar in front of it called El Balcon. Stop in there for a more relaxed view but be aware that drinks are pricey! Website: http://www.lovegranada.com/places/albaicin/
